Valley Girl…Then & Now
This summer marks the 30th anniversary of the cult classic Valley Girl. The flick featured Nicolas Cage as a Hollywood bad boy who falls in love with a local beauty queen. Here we recreate some scenes from this quintessential 80s movie. The good news? Our kids have come a long, long way.
Heading into her senior year at Campbell Hall, Cameron Knoblock hopes to continue her fierce academic streak; she’s been on the honor roll every year since ninth grade. She’s an avid tennis player and a photography buff. This summer she is working as a “counselor in training” at Camp Tocaloma.

At age 17, Jacky Farrow somehow manages to do it all. The honor roll student plays pitcher on the Viewpoint girls’ softball team–winning the First Team All League award the past two years in a row. She’s a member of the National Charity League—volunteering alongside her mom at the Discovery Shop and selling bagels to raise money at the Calabasas Farmers Market.

Nick Koones is something of a sports fanatic. Don’t even get him started about his Washington Redskins. But this 15-year-old isn’t just a fan; he is also a player. The Notre Dame High School sophomore plays both football and baseball. In his spare time, he is also a working actor, who just nabbed his first national commercial.

Dani’s fraternal twin, Allison, is a budding filmmaker. Her student (group)-produced movie was one of four chosen to be presented at the LA Film Festival this past June. She’s also an accomplished pianist who can play by ear.
