Thanksgiving Restaurants 2.0

A few more ways to stay out of the kitchen on Turkey Day.

By popular demand, The Sauce is adding a few more last-minute possibilities to our previous list of Thanksgiving options:

1. Daily Grill Burbank is offering a traditional full dinner for $42.75 with a most welcome prix fixe kids menu for $14.75. 2500 N. Hollywood Way, 818-840-6464

 2. Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que is one of the latest chain restaurants to open its doors at The Village at Westfield Topanga. And they're open for Thanksgiving with a limited menu that includes turkey as well as southern fried chicken and a variety of barbecued meats, all presumably served in the chain's signature humongous portions. The Sauce suggests not waiting for Thanksgiving to try Lucille's brisket burnt ends appetizer—hands-down the best thing on the menu (see the previous list for veggie Thanksgiving suggestions). 6220 North Topanga Blvd., Building E, Suite 1480, 818-346-7427

For those looking for a casual dinner on Thanksgiving, The Sauce heard that Patys in Toluca Lake is open with turkey and salmon specials for the holiday, but only until 4 p.m. So either take it home or eat fast. 10001 Riverside Drive, 818-761-0041

Save Marv’s Deli

As Erik Greenberg Anjou’s documentary Deli Man notes, Jewish delis have dwindled in popularity over the past century. Locally we’ve seen numerous delis close: Jerry’s in Beverly Hills and Solley’s here in the Valley. We’re sad to report that Marv’s Delicatessen, a Valley Village institution since 1954, may also become a statistic. Herman “the German” […]
