For the past year there have been rumors, and now it is confirmed: Solley’s Deli in Sherman Oaks is officially closing on June 6 after 50 years in business. For the last 20 years the deli has been owned by Jerry’s Deli and the Starkman family. According to an article in the San Fernando Valley Business Journal, the 65 Solley’s employees will have the opportunity to apply for jobs at the four Jerry’s locations.

And after a menu and concept re-design, Continental (the former Mo's and Hampton's) in Toluca Lake sadly closed just after six weeks in operation. No word about what caused the closure or what will be the replacement in this iconic location.

Freshii, the “health-focused,” fast-casual chain (with more than 100 franchise locations in seven countries) just opened a location in Northridge. The menu features custom-made wraps, salads, bowls, burritos, oatmeal, juices, smoothies and fro-yo. Meal ingredients include: a variety of vegetables, nuts and avocado, as well as the prerequisites for any “healthy” menu these days: kale and quinoa. Protein choices include tofu, falafel, chicken, steak and tuna. There are currently more than 100 Freshii franchises with more opening every week. Average price is $7.99. 19500 Plummer St., Northridge, 818-678-9635

The Melt just opened its 11th storefront at The Promenade in Westlake. This fast-casual eatery’s motto is "Grilled Cheese Happiness." The menu includes varieties of specialty grilled cheese melts (of course), burgers with a blend of Angus and Wagyu beef and a slew of toppings, crispy fries, homemade mac ‘n’ cheese, salads, soups, soft-serve ice cream and milkshakes, and even beer and wine. Order through the website, and your food will be ready upon arrival. 180 Promenade Way (next to Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas), Westlake Village, 805-228-4658
