Real estate agent Stephanie Payab has been with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties since 2003 and started The Payab Group in 2016. Stephanie has consistently earned some of the highest awards presented to agents within Berkshire Hathaway. In addition, she has been recognized nationally in the top 1% of all BHHS agents. 


Describe your leadership style and how you lead your team.

My leadership style could be compared to a teacher. I give the necessary information and then let my real estate “students” figure out what comes next. I am approachable and eager to see my team members grow and realize their potential. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the look in the eyes of a team member when they realize what they have accomplished!


The real estate market is still extremely busy. How do you find time to fit it all in? 

While I am busy, I do find time for fun. And thankfully, my personal and professional lives overlap. Many of my clients are my friends, and others become friends along the way. Because of this, routine real estate procedures become a time for me to hang out and catch up with the people I enjoy.


How do you encourage honest, open dialogue in your workplace?

It is very important to me to be open and honest with my team members as well as my clients. Everyone on my team has the opportunity to grow and learn by speaking freely without judgment. I enjoy the conversations, both easy and difficult, that arise during a real estate transaction. My team members and I work together to make the real estate transaction a pleasant experience for everyone involved.


What is the #1 thing you do to ensure The Payab Group is successful? 

The #1 thing I do to ensure my success is to make sure my clients know they are included and aware of every aspect of the buying or selling process. My team and I provide detailed information every step of the way, which leads to a smooth transaction, no surprises and satisfied clients!


If you could begin again, what would you want to do over in your career?

If I had a magic wand that could take me back in time, I would embrace my social media presence earlier in my real estate career. The fear of looking silly and not knowing what to say or how I would be perceived kept me from taking advantage of these platforms and opportunities. I now understand that these marketing tools can reach large audiences, and I have fun making videos to promote and market both myself and my business. My followers love it!
