Realtors® Mia Capanna and Garrett McKechnie have worked under the umbrella of Wish Sotheby’s International Realty since 2018. They have been a Top 20 producer for the agency every year. Their team services all of Los Angeles with a strong focus on the San Fernando Valley and East Los Angeles, from Hollywood Hills to Pasadena.

Tell us about your partnership.

“We have been best friends since 1994 when we met as freshman BFA acting majors at Carnegie Mellon University. After both pursuing successful acting careers, we separately moved into various business ventures: Garrett was a successful bar owner and Mia was a television producer. Realizing our shared passion for Los Angeles’ unique neighborhoods, architecture and history, we formed our own real estate team.”

What do you love about your work?

“We love so much about our work, but nothing tops finding the perfect match for a home. Whether it’s helping our seller find the perfect buyer or handing new keys to our buyers as they start their next chapter, helping our clients reach their goals is the best part of this job. It’s that moment when dreams become a reality!”

Have you seen a recent increase in first-time home purchases?

“We have helped a lot of first-time homebuyers throughout 2020–2021. We love working with them through all of the excitement, ups and downs, and watching them start their new chapter in their beautiful home. A combination of low interest rates, high rent and changes to work and home life have made jumping into the Los Angeles housing market more attractive than ever.”

Speak about the flexibility required to be successful in this industry.

“Every property and every person we help is unique. And we love that! No matter how many escrows you go through, there is always something new to learn. The reality is that a competitive market is fluid, and adaptability is key.”

Do you think home prices will continue to soar in 2022?

“It’s hard to have a crystal ball on this one, but it seems like we are in the new normal. Prices may not shoot up as exponentially as they did in 2020–2021, but Los Angeles is still such a young city with so much room for growth. There’s no going back now.”
