How do you contribute to your community?
I produce a monthly newsletter for my neighbors, keeping them apprised of things happening in the neighborhood. I also have a community Facebook page where I let people know about nearby events. I host community meetings once or twice a year with our senior lead officer, our city councilperson’s field deputy and other guest speakers.
Do you think mentors are important?
Yes, I think mentors are very important. I’ve had many in my career. I have been a mentor to new agents for many years and love sowing seeds and watching them grow. My mentors were very generous with their time, knowledge and experience, and I try to do the same for my mentees.
What are you passionate about?
I am very passionate about finding solutions for our unhoused neighbors. I feel that as a Realtor, it’s important for me to try to help those who aren’t able to find housing. I have been advocating and raising money for this cause for many years. I am very involved with the California Association of Realtors and their legislative activities. I participate in our Legislative Day, where we fly to Sacramento and meet with legislators to discuss important issues to promote homeownership.
I was the chair of the homelessness committee of the Encino Neighborhood Council, as well as a part of the Council District 5 homelessness task force. I just finished our sixth annual Encino Woods 4th of July bike and scooter parade and bake sale. We raised $500 for LA Family Housing. I coordinate a holiday toy drive along with 88.5 FM and Les Perry for the children at LA Family Housing. I also work very closely with Ken Craft at Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, raising money, donating clothing and books, as well doing voter registration and census drives. I donate time and money to Get Together Foundation’s various charitable drives. I also donate a portion of every commission to The Charitable Foundation through Berkshire Hathaway, which provides grants for local organizations that promote health, education, community and the environment.
