Grace Home Furnishings

Describe the featured project.

“The featured project is a Montecito-style Spanish home located in Calabasas. The owner wanted a clean, crisp look for the house, with her preference being contrasting black-and-white. We brought warmth to the house through the soft and tactile materials—a zigzag cowhide rug, sheepskin pillows and faux fur upholstery on the chairs. We added additional character by mixing modern and traditional furniture.”

Tell us about your firm and the services you offer.

“Grace Home Furnishings, founded in 2000 by designers Michael Ostrow and Roger Stoker, features two beautifully appointed showrooms featuring vibrant, inviting atmospheres where you can shop, place a custom order, or get personalized decorating advice from a team of in-house designers. Whether you are looking for a unique piece of furniture or full-scale interior design services, we can turn that vision into a reality that is classic and refined, elegant yet comfortable.”

What do clients love about working with you?

“We have years of experience designing interiors and building furniture for many different kinds of homes and people. We understand that the same fabrics and accessories that work for a single professional will not be practical for a family with young children. We can guide our clients to pieces that are not only aesthetically appealing but that work with their lifestyle as well.

Our customers appreciate our ability to make the design process simple, fun and exciting. We love becoming part of their lives and following their careers, watching their kids grow up, etc. We enjoy working with them to adapt the design of their homes to fit their evolving needs and styles.”

What sets your firm apart?

“In addition to our showrooms and design projects, we also produce our own Grace Home Collection© of custom upholstery, case good pieces and fabric. All of our furniture is manufactured in Southern California, built to order and can be customized in any way. Our fabric line is printed locally on Belgian linen and features bold geometrics and graphic floral prints. These custom capabilities allow us to create truly unique interiors for our clients.”

How do you “go the extra mile”?

“We pride ourselves on designing down to the smallest detail. From lampshade trim to custom pillows, we make sure each of our projects is unique and tailored specifically to each client’s taste.”

What is the most distinctive element in a project you’ve completed?

“We recently had the opportunity to use dark pink as the accent color throughout an entire house, which is a color we don’t get to use very often. It worked well as the house was all ivory with dark wood accents, and the pink gave it a lot of punch and excitement.”

What are you currently working on?

“A Sherman Oaks traditional, three Spanish/Mediterranean-style homes in Palm Springs, a flat in San Francisco and a lake house in upstate New York. We also recently completed a grand Hidden Hills estate.”
