Describe your leadership style.
I believe in hands-on training and leading by example, transparency in leadership, authenticity and a gentle but firm approach. No fluffy stuff. On our team, it is not about just being successful; we want to be good leaders and valuable mentors.
If you could begin again, what would you want to “do over” in your career?
I would have started my career with a top-tier mentor. I was completely self-taught. In operating our team, my partner, George Ouzounian, and I both realize the immense value of growth under an experienced mentor. It can put you on the fast track of knowledge, lessen your liability risks and teach you quickly how to be an outstanding agent from the start.
What has been the most significant barrier in your career?
Thankfully we are coming to an age where women have a strong presence in business. That was not the case when I was 22! It is pretty amazing to reach a place where you feel very well respected and know that you have earned it because you know your business well. I am glad that the women on my team are showing their strengths and becoming the next generation of powerhouse women in real estate.
What are some of your favorite ways to stay grounded?
This is a great question because to be a highly successful agent, you must stay grounded, avoid burnout, stay motivated and most importantly, enjoy the career you have chosen. I have a “work hard, play hard” mentality. I have developed amazing friendships within my industry, and have learned that I must take time out from work to truly enjoy the relationships and savor the special moments.
And my family is my true center. They give me so many reasons to stay grounded. Some days it is not easy, but it’s the commitment you must make to be successful!
What role does your family play in your career?
I was instilled with a level of confidence during my childhood that I could do whatever I could see in my mind. This motivation was one of the greatest gifts my parents could have given me. To this day, they are my greatest inspiration. I can only hope to be the type of parent to my kids that they were to my siblings and me.
