Locals frequently take hotel restaurants for granted, leaving these dining options near airports, tourist attractions and shopping malls to business travelers and tourists. However, you don’t always have to leave these restaurants hidden in plain sight.

As part of a multimillion dollar renovation, Warner Center Marriott replaced Breeze An American Grill with Asado Urban Grill—an airy restaurant with a dramatic dining room atrium that’s sandwiched between the pool area and the “Q Bar” lobby lounge. The hotel hired chef and consultant Guy Calluaud to oversee the upgrade.

The menu offers more than the standard selection of soups, salads and sandwiches typically seen at a Marriott restaurant. Tajin-crusted salmon comes plated with papaya cilantro lime salsa, farm-fresh vegetables and fingerling potatoes. Braised duck tacos join avocado, grilled tomato salsa and cabbage confit on flour tortillas. Their riff on a lobster roll combines claw and tail meat, spicy Thousand Island dressing, lettuce and tomato on a toasted baguette.

The term “house-made” also makes frequent appearances on a Shareables menu, coming before guacamole with corn tortilla crisps, lemon pepper chips and chili-lemon French fries with banana ketchup. Even their black bean vegetarian burger is made in-house, dressed with lettuce, tomato and avocado spread on a brioche bun. No, the bun isn’t house-made.
