Uncommon Threads – Artist’s Reception
December 1, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
The San Fernando Valley Arts & Cultural Center (SFVACC) presents “Uncommon Threads III”, a fiber, quilting and weaving exhibit from 2 local organizations – Surface Art Association and Frayed Edges. This exhibit was so popular last year that we’ve decided to do it again! Each organization will display their fiber art in 1/2 of the gallery.
This extraordinary exhibit brings together 26 artists for what will be an artistic journey through fiber, handmade paper, fabrics (including canvas), woven threads and more. The often-said quote for these artists is “Off the bed and onto the wall” which has redefined quilt art from functional to fun! This exhibit includes both 2D and 3D art and stretches the imagination beyond traditional combinations of materials. All art is for sale.
Artists for Frayed Edges are Susanne Belcher, Sharon Brooks, Joan Foster, Kim Foster, Susan Gesundheit, Carolev Gillin, lee Goldberg. Sylvia Goulden, Suki Kuss, Harriett Lahana, Nicki Newfield, Gayle Plessner and Carla Simonian.
Artists for Surface Art Association are Dassi Pintar, Diana Shore, Rachel Williamson, Smadar Knobler, Maureen Cox, Renee Stevens, Leone Keegan, Linda Stone, Guila Greer, Celeste Covas, Naila Aladdin-Sanders, Sue Langham and Cicely Gilman.
The exhibit opens November 27 and closes on Saturday, December 22, 2018. An artists’ reception will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 5:00 -8:00 pm.
