Barrel and Ashes in Studio City recently added Saturday and Sunday brunch to its barbecue lineup, with such dishes as shrimp and grits, chicken fried steak, smoked salmon scramble, huevos rancheros, breakfast sandwich and salmon toast. 

And if you’ve ever had the hoe cake (amped-up corn cake), they’re offering three varieties that take this decadent dish to a whole new level with a breakfast (fried eggs and bacon), banana (whipped white chocolate and caramelized bananas) and hangover (fried egg, chili, cheddar).

For a boozy brunch, there are some racy and whimsical-sounding cocktails, including blood sugar sex magik, horses neck and gin fizz tropicale. There’s also the regular selection of beer, plus mimosas with seasonal juices.
